Programs and Events

Mithila Center USA creates programs and events that preserve heritage, support artists, engage youth, and strengthen community identity through art, education, and cultural celebration. Our programming reflects the richness of Mithila traditions while also connecting them to contemporary conversations around identity, sustainability, inclusion, and public learning. Through exhibitions, workshops, festivals, recognition programs, and community initiatives, Mithila Center USA continues to build a vibrant cultural platform for artists, families, youth, and the broader public.

Art and Cultural Exhibition

Mithila Center USA’s art and cultural exhibitions are designed to preserve the visual language of Mithila while presenting it to wider and more diverse audiences. These exhibitions highlight traditional and contemporary Mithila art, showcase artists from Nepal, India, and the diaspora, and create spaces where heritage can be experienced with both authenticity and relevance. The organization’s exhibitions often go beyond display alone. They serve as platforms for education, cultural storytelling, artistic exchange, and dialogue around social themes. Many exhibitions have connected Mithila art with the Sustainable Development Goals, showing how traditional folk art can contribute to global conversations on climate, equality, education, and environmental responsibility.

Youth Engagement and Empowerment

Mithila Center USA believes that cultural preservation must include the next generation. Its youth programs are designed to help children and young adults build pride in their heritage, express creativity, and engage with Mithila traditions in ways that are meaningful, educational, and inspiring. These initiatives combine art education, cultural learning, mentorship, public recognition, and community participation. Youth programming is designed not only to teach Mithila painting techniques, but also to create belonging, confidence, and cultural connection among young people growing up in the diaspora.

Community Advocacy and Cultural Celebrations

Mithila Center USA’s community programs bring people together to celebrate identity, preserve collective memory, and create greater public visibility for Mithila heritage. These events serve as spaces for celebration, dialogue, cultural pride, and community solidarity. Community advocacy is an important part of the organization’s work. It is reflected not only in public cultural events, but also in efforts to build awareness, recognition, and representation for Mithila heritage in civic, educational, and multicultural spaces. Through festivals, observances, partnerships, and public engagement, Mithila Center USA helps strengthen the cultural voice of the community while inviting others to learn and participate.
